From The New York Times - Bob Tedeschi writes, "NEARLY a decade into the e-commerce era, the growth in online holiday shopping has shown few signs of slowing down, executives and analysts said. Fueled by Web searches for iPods, Elmos, gift cards and video game consoles, among many others, online retailers are expecting sales to increase by about 20 percent this year, or about the same amount as in 2005."

Frontpage Extensions End of Life (EOL)

Microsoft announced they will no longer support FrontPage Extensions for UNIX servers. Microsoft is releasing new software that will replace FrontPage Extensions.

What does this mean to you?

If you use FrontPage Extensions, we will support them for as long as possible until security or support becomes an issue. Many customers have long since abandoned FrontPage Extensions for the easier to use Site Studio. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact support.

For those looking for a more advanced web site editing tool, we recommend Macromedia Dreamweaver 8.

Internet Spam has increased nearly 30% in the past two months

"A significant rise in the global volume of spam in the past two months has security analysts worried that bot nets are increasingly being used by spammers to stymie network defenses erected to curtail bulk email.

Estimates of the magnitude of the increase in junk email vary, but experts agree that an uncommon surge in spam is occurring. On the low side, Symantec, the owner of SecurityFocus, has found that average spam volume has increased almost 30 percent for its 35,000 clients in the last two months. Others have seen much more significant jumps: Spam black list maintainer Total Quality Management Cubed has seen a 450 percent increase in spam in two months, and the amount of spam filtered out every week by security software maker Sunbelt Software has more than tripled compared to six months ago."

Internet Milestone - 100 Million Websites!

"There are now more than 100 million web sites on the Internet, which gained 3.5 million sites last month to continue the dynamic growth seen throughout 2006. In the November 2006 survey we received responses from 101,435,253 sites, up from 97.9 million sites last month.

The 100 million site milestone caps an extraordinary year in which the Internet has already added 27.4 million sites, easily topping the previous full-year growth record of 17 million from 2005. The Internet has doubled in size since May 2004, when the survey hit 50 million."

Springs Hosting Officially Opens - January 15, 2006
"Springs Hosting has officially opened for business, but we are no strangers to web and email hosting.  In fact we've been doing it for years under our parent company PRBCorp.  Our hosting services and customer base have grown to a point to warrant it's own brand and company name and hence we have split the two companies.  Springs Hosting is now able to freely focus on emerging data related technologies to better serve our customers.  PRBCorp still remains the primary controlling interest in Springs Hosting."
